The golden days of the All-Day Breakfast Boom may have passed. No, nothing is happening to your afternoon McMuffin, but the sales surge created by offering breakfast at any time has waned in the U.S. So what’s next? [More]

McDonald’s is probably patting itself on the back right about now: the Golden Arches managed to beat earnings expectations and also achieved solid growth in same-restaurant sales for the most recent quarter. The company says the boost is due in part to its all-day breakfast menu, “McPick” promotions, and its recently revamped chicken nuggets. [More]
Dunkin’ Donuts Has A Plan To Compete With McDonald’s: Pointing Out That It Also Serves Breakfast All Day
In October Dunkin’ Donuts admitted that it was “obviously” paying attention to McDonald’s all-day breakfast menu, but didn’t seem too worried. Three months later, Dunkin’ is revealing how it plans to tackle the competition in the breakfast arena: remind people that Dunkin’ Donuts also serves breakfast all day. [More]
By now you’ve probably heard that McDonald’s may have managed to turn years of slumping sales around by offering customers the ability to munch on an Egg McMuffin (or biscuit, if you live in the right place) after 10:30 a.m. But before the company ultimately went the all-day breakfast route, it tried a lot (we mean a lot) of other ideas in 2015 in an attempt to claw its way back to the top of the fast food restaurant pyramid. It’s been two months since McDonald’s began offering an all-day breakfast menu — which includes most popular early morning items, but not everything — nationwide. A new report indicates that the idea has been successful in luring back some lost McD’s customers, but not so successful that we’ll all be able to get McGriddles on our way home from work. [More]
One thing that disappointed fans of McDonald’s breakfast after the chain expanded its availablility all day long is that not all restaurants offer hash browns all day. Hash Brown Finder is exactly what it sounds like: it flags McDonald’s locations and whether they serve hash browns all day or not. The site is simple to use, plotting locations with hash browns on a Google map. It needs more data, though: if you’ve been to McDonald’s lately, volunteer for this tater-riffic cause. There’s a limited pool of people who want to eat breakfast for every meal of the day, and diners and family restaurants have been preparing for a world where McDonald’s serves its breakfast menu all day. What about other fast-food outlets, though? At least one Burger King in New Jersey has decided to hop on the bandwagon and offer all-day breakfast. [More]
Reader D. is disappointed in all-day breakfast at McDonald’s. Not because it exists, but because he lives in an area of Ohio that offers biscuits and not McMuffins on its all-day breakfast menu. He wondered whether we could provide a service to our readers by making a nationwide map that shows which markets have which breakfast breads. We can’t, because McDonald’s already did. [More]
Given the hoopla surrounding McDonald’s nationwide entry into the all-day breakfast market, one might assume competitors are a bit wary of how the move will affect their sales. But while Dunkin’ Donuts says that of course, it’s watching the Golden Arches, it’s ready to fight back with the weapons it has at its disposal: breakfast sandwiches, coffee and donuts.
Despite the fact that McDonald’s new all-day breakfast menus are slated to roll out across the country on Oct. 6, it seems there could be a few locations who couldn’t wait: Consumerist reader Victor spotted an all-day breakfast menu at the drive-thru of his local Mickey D’s in Northern California this week, and sent in the evidence.
