Pizza Hut Managers: Worker Ogling Porn On Laptop Wasn’t On The Clock, So Who Cares?
What you do in your personal time is totally your own business — collect toy ponies, worship at a Bill Pullman shrine, whatever floats your boat — but even if you’re not on the clock, you probably shouldn’t indulge in your favorite porn peccadilloes at your place of employment. Pizza Hut customers in Virginia are hot under the collar after claiming they caught a worker ogling naked ladies on his laptop at the eatery.
Two of the customers contacted NBC 12 news in Richmond, saying the manager on duty shrugged off their outrage when they complained.
“This is supposed to be a public place,” said one woman, whose husband notified the manager of his employee’s alleged actions. They say he blew off their claims.
“I approached the manager and he was like ‘okay,’ ” recalls the man. ” ‘And the problem was?’ ”
When the news station stopped by to check it out for themselves, reporters asked another manager if she felt regretful over how the situation was handled. The answer? Sort of.
“We are,” the staff manager on duty replied. “We do regret that they had to see that and experience a situation like that in our restaurant, but like we said, it was personal time. He wasn’t on the clock.”
Apparently he has a three-hour break (say what now?!?), during which time the he often hangs out in a booth at the restaurant with his laptop, said the manager. After that, he goes back to work. So is that like, okay with the manager?
“I mean,” she said. “I do not feel like it affects his job performance.”
Pizza Hut’s managers say they did have a talk with the worker, who is still employed there and ostensibly, still enjoying his three-hour breaks in that special booth.
*Thanks for the tip, Richard!
