Red Velvet Latte And Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Coming From Dunkin’ Donuts
Everyone wants to celebrate the winter holidays with comfort, cheer, and a generous dose of red food coloring. In that spirit, Dunkin’ Donuts will introduce two new seasonal drinks next week: the red velvet latte, and a salted caramel hot chocolate.
We learned about these new products from The Daily Meal, whose source says that the red velvet latte will taste exactly like the chain’s red velvet donut. (We’re not sure how that will work, since you can’t put cream cheese icing on a hot beverage.)
Seasonal coffee and hot chocolate flavors that were popular last year will come back next week as well. These include white chocolate, dark chocolate, and mint chocolate hot chocolates and peppermint and white chocolate flavored coffees.
Traditionally, the red in red velvet desserts comes from beetroot, but Dunkin’ uses Red 40 in its red velvet drizzle donuts.
While it does feel a little early to be hauling out the Christmas-ish beverages, even we, grouchy opponents of Christmas Creep, think that it’s never too early to combine peppermint and chocolate in a hot beverage. So there.
