Macy’s Confirms It Will Open At 8 P.M. On Thanksgiving, Stay Open For 24 Hours
The company claims that the decision to open early is “In response to interest from customers who prefer to start their shopping early.”
“Black Friday is the biggest shopping event of the year and brings with it a level of fun and excitement to our customers around the nation,” said Macy’s chief stores officer. “For Macy’s, it’s important to make this day enjoyable and convenient for everyone, as our customers search for great deals on favorite wish-list items.”
Yay! Can’t you just smell the holiday spirit?
While many other stores haven’t announced their Black Friday hours, it seems unlikely that the early opening trend will end this year, so you can probably expect Walmart to open at 8 p.m. again, Target to open at 9 p.m., in order to cater to people who apparently hate their families so much they’d rather shop than spend time at home.
Regardless of what it’s transformed into, Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time of reflection, being with loved ones, and — as the on-the-nose name makes abundantly clear — giving thanks, not clamoring over cut-rate LCD screens that Walmart hasn’t been able to sell for two years.
