McDonald’s Clubhouse Quarter Pounder Sounds Nice, Wants To Eat Itself
It’s old news that McDonald’s is testing a new variation on the Quarter Pounder, the super-fancy “Clubhouse Quarter Pounder,” in a few counties in the Miami area. What struck us about this new burger wasn’t its contents, but the food styling in this photo. A bacon strip looks like a human tongue licking its lips in the universal cartoon symbol for “yum.” Is it supposed to be clever? It’s creepy.
This is natural, my colleagues pointed out. “Even bacon wants to eat itself,” pointed out Mary Beth Quirk, probably while eating some bacon.
Here’s the official description of the burger: “a quarter pound beef patty, a new soft artisan roll, caramelized grilled onions, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, white cheddar, leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and a ‘unique special sauce’.” This is all very tasty-sounding, which is confusing, because I thought it was McDonald’s selling this item. Also, that bacon tongue is still scary.
The Clubhouse Quarter Pounder is available at slightly different prices, between $4.49 and $4.79, in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties. If you get the chance to try it, let us know what you think!
