You’re Having A Baby! Or At Least, The Woman Who Sold Her Pregnancy Test On Craigslist Is
Need to play a hilarious (read: Maybe not actually funny) joke on your significant other? Want to freak out that guy who dumped you via Twitter? Or maybe you’re trying to find a cash-friendly way to recycle your positive pregnancy test. There’s apparently a flourishing online market for those little sticks saying you’re about to become a parent, which is either chuckle-worthy or really troubling.
Moms who have already received their good news and have no more use for their pregnancy kits are shilling positive tests on Craigslist and are finding plenty of buyers willing to hand over $20-$40 for the honor of faux pregnancy, reports the New York Daily News.
To wit! One woman from Manhattan writes: “I’m pregnant and will sell you my positive pregnancy test for $20. I don’t care what you need them for.”
Would it matter if she did care? Probably not, because once you’ve got your hands on that baby — er, pregnancy test, that is — anyone could do anything with it.
For example — maybe your boyfriend got the receptionist pregnant.
“We had been trying for another (baby). He texted and said he isn’t sure who he wants to be with and I think I handled it well for what a cheating lying dog he is,” wrote one woman. “I would like the last laugh out of this. I will give some girl $40.”
There are some less scandalous uses than revenge/terrifying your loved ones/bringing false hope: One L.A. woman said she wanted to the test to make a video on teen pregnancy for her local boys and girls club.
Heck, men could buy these too, but it might be harder to convince the woman in question that she took a pregnancy test she doesn’t remember taking.
