Memo Seems To Confirm The End Of McDonald’s Angus Burgers
In the above memo from Chicago-based East Balt bakery, which has been providing McDonald’s with buns since before many of us were born, the company states that the McDonald’s distribution center will stop sending out Angus patties tomorrow, May 11. Thus, East Balt will be delivering the last Angus buns on May 18. The use-by date on those last buns of May 23 means that should be the last day that McDonald’s fans can get the true Angus experience.
The tipster who sent us the memo confirms the BurgerBusiness report that McDonald’s is pushing aside the Angus sandwiches, which debuted nationally in summer 2009, in order to gussy up the Quarter Pounder line of burgers.
“The new Quarter Pounders will be similar to Burger King’s Whoppers,” says the tipster.
Most of us at Consumerist HQ have never been huge fans of McDonald’s burgers, but the Angus ones certainly sufficed in a pinch. They will (sort of) be missed.
