Still Waiting For A Nexus 7 I Don’t Even Want Anymore

I don’t even want it anymore.

Last week, we shared with you two discouraging tales of terrible customer service from Google. It’s not that the people who answer the phone when you order the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7 aren’t friendly. They are. They just can’t do anything to help their customers, who have been waiting for their devices. And waiting. Reader Phil grumbles that he’s still waiting for his order to leave “processing” status after a few weeks, and he could go buy a better device for the same price elsewhere instead of paying more to have a delayed order he can’t cancel directly from Google.

I found your articles this morning after my headaches with Google trying to cancel my Nexus 7 order.

I placed an order for an 8GB Nexus 7 on October the 18th. I have not received a tracking number, the device has not shipped, Google says that the order is hung at a processing state. So I can’t cancel the order, and they claim they can’t cancel my order. So basically, like others, I am being held hostage. What really kicks me in the butt is that today I can purchase a 16GB device in stores for the same price as the 8GB that I ordered and not have to pay shipping.

How can a company as large as Google get away with customer service this atrocious? Makes me wonder why I would even want a Google Tablet at all with this kind of service. Google is going to make money on my
hardware purchase, as limited as that may be. Google will aslo make money on the advertising that they are going to feed me on the device. I have been waiting for 11 days, I hope that I don’t have to wait 3.5 months for delivery. That is completely unacceptable!

Here’s to hoping that I don’t have to wait that long to get a device I no longer want?

Does anyone else remember the heady days before the release of the Nexus One, when those of us who chatter about consumer products and gadgets hoped that the Nexus One would usher in an exciting new era of direct-to-consumer unlocked mobile device sales? That was a beautiful time.
