While Home Depot continues to drag its feet on confirming reports that its in-store payment systems were recently hacked, it looks like the retailer might have fallen victim to the same malicious software used to steal credit/debit card and personal information for more than 100 million Target customers in 2013. Now Reuters reports that the Secret Service is involved in the matter. [More]

While Home Depot has yet to confirm or deny whether it was indeed hit by a massive breach of its payment system, a look at the data for a huge batch of stolen credit cards that recently went up for sale on the black market seems to indicate that the hack could have hit nearly all Home Depot stores in the U.S. [More]

The Fun Thing About Target Math? You Can Find It At Home Depot & Walmart, Too

Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you can and can’t be, friends. The world is your oyster, the sky is the limit, the cliche is yours to abuse and the rules are made to be broken. So when you’re a retailer, don’t think the only store that can have Target math. [More]

4 Home Depot Exclusives For Shoppers To Avoid

While many of us go to stores like Home Depot for brands of tools, paint, flooring and other products that you could buy at other retailers, the Depot has several labels you won’t find elsewhere. Unfortunately, not all of these exclusive brands are worth the trip to the Despot. [More]

As the ancient Sumerian saying goes: The family that steals a whole lot of identities in order to ring up a slew of fraudulent charges together, gets arrested together. A couple, their adult children and a daughter-in-law have all been nabbed by cops, accused of an identity theft scheme that brought in $56,000 worth of goods at Home Depot. [More]

Home Depot Employees Arrested For Stealing Personal Information Of 300 Co-Workers

Of all the people at your workplace that you’d hope would not violate employees’ trust by stealing their personal information and using it for illicit gain, it would probably be the folks in corporate human resources. But you’d be wrong, at least in the case of the three Home Depot HR staffers who have been arrested for allegedly stealing co-workers’ information to open bogus credit card accounts. [More]

South Carolina Home Depot Says Its Resident Cat Will Be Allowed To Stay Indefinitely

Put your paws together for Depot the Home Depot cat, everyone: Despite the recent news that management was giving her the boot from the South Carolina store where she’d live for 13 years, the store now says she can stay as long as she wants if no one comes forward to adopt her. [More]

This Cat Needs A New Home After Living In A Home Depot For 13 Years

This Cat Needs A New Home After Living In A Home Depot For 13 Years

The world was Depot’s oyster, and that world is the Home Depot. See, Depot is a cat and her home is Home Depot (try saying that three times fast). She’s lived in a South Carolina store for 13 years, but that life of trolling for pests, snuggling up with paint cans and greeting workers in the morning is about to end. She’s getting the boot after triggering the store’s security alarms one time too many. [More]

Google Helpouts Are Live, And Lots Of “Experts” Are Giving Out Free Advice

In August, Google announced the creation of Google Helpouts, a live chat service that lets semi-vetted, self-declared experts in any number of fields make themselves available for help, guidance, and tutorials for a price. The service is finally live, and in some categories, there are plenty of people willing to give their advice away for free, along with a number of retailers hoping you’ll come to them for help. Home Depot Leaves Me With A Concrete Condo Floor And An Awful Lot Of Supplies

Home Depot Leaves Me With A Concrete Condo Floor And An Awful Lot Of Supplies

Navid’s idea wasn’t bad: he wanted to install wood floors in his condo, and chose to hire installers from the store where he bought the flooring and supplies, Home Depot. This should be a simple transaction: he gives them money, they come over and put floors in his condo. It’s just that something that employees assured Navid wouldn’t be a problem suddenly became a problem. There’s a large dip and some cracks in his subfloor, and Home Depot’s original rough estimate for how much it would fix to cost the problem was much lower than it should have been. Navid agreed to pay that expense, and the contractors walked off the job anyway, saying that they wouldn’t be able to warranty the work. Now Navid is stuck with a lot of supplies and a ripped-up floor. [More]

Home Depot Batman Just Wanted To "Inspire Hope," Says He's Not The Only Real-Life Superhero

Remember the man who scared the bejeezus out of shoppers by — and was arrested for — walking around Home Depot dressed like Batman (and not the cuddly ’60s TV Batman), asking if anyone needed help? Well, he says his motives were misunderstood… and that there are others out there like him. [More]

Home Depot Won’t Process $8,000 Order Because It Can’t Decide If It Will Accept My Gift Cards

Consumerist reader Sam was in a bit of a pickle. He’d recently moved from Florida to Texas, where he’d bought a home with the aim of fixing it up. To help him in this effort, Sam’s family and friends had given him several thousand dollars worth of Home Deport gift cards. Problem is, Sam accidentally left those cards back in Florida. But since he had all the info for the cards, Home Depot said it would be no problem. Or wait, maybe it will be. Or maybe not. [More]

Masco Cabinetry Takes Over Support For Closed Company, Replaces Their Crappy Cabinet Doors For Free

The cabinets that Debbie bought from Home Depot a decade ago haven’t aged very well. She saw on the original paperwork that the ones she has came with a “lifetime guarantee”…. but that’s nonsense, right? She looked them up anyway, just in case. It turned out that the company that made her cabinets, Mills Pride, closed a few years ago. That’s too bad. But a different company starting with M, Masco Cabinetry, took over customer support for Mills Pride’s old customers. Debbie called them up and, to her astonishment, learned that Masco would replace the worn-out doors that they didn’t even manufacture in the first place. [More]
