Frontier Increasing Checked Baggage Fees By $5 To $10 Starting May 1

A year after Frontier Airlines unveiled an “ultra-low-cost” fare structure including new fees for bags, the airline is once again revising those costs.

The Arizona Republic reports that the airline plans to increase its fees for bags checked at the airport or at the gate by $5 to $10 starting May 1.

Frontier Airline will raise its checked baggage fees beginning May 1.

Under the new baggage fee structure, bags checked last-minute at the gate will see the biggest increase, going from $50 to $60.

Other increases are a bit more modest. Passengers who choose to check their bags online before getting to the airport can expect to now pay $25, instead of the previous $20.

Checking bags at the airport will also cost more, going from $25 to $30 for the first bag and $30 to $35 for the second bag.

The only checked baggage fees not changed under the new structure are those paid for at the time travel is booked on Frontier’s website.

Frontier’s carry-on baggage fees – which were first announced last spring – won’t be changing under the new structure. Those fees range from $20 to $50 depending on customers’ status with the airline and the time at which the bags are paid for.
