Winning 3 Gold Medals On A Diet Of 1,000 Chicken McNuggets Is Easy… If You’re Usain Bolt
When you think of an Olympic athlete, words like “finely-tuned physique” and “my body is a temple” come to mind. But at least one highly-celebrated physical specimen of athleticism admits to filling that temple with fried bits of chicken stuff.
Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt dashed off with three gold medals during the Beijing Olympics, but lest you think he subsisted entirely on good-for-you greens and lean, nutritious proteins, the fastest man out there says he fueled his speedy body with fast food.
He writes about his meal of choice in his new memoir Faster Than Lightning, reports the New York Post, after Chinese cuisine didn’t agree with him. So he went looking for a new meal option — chicken McNuggets.
“At first I ate a box of 20 for lunch, then another for dinner. The next day I had two boxes for breakfast, one for lunch and then another couple in the evening. I even grabbed some fries and an apple pie to go with it,” he writes.
That all boils down to about 100 nuggets every 24 hours, he estimates, bringing the 10-day total to 1,000 nuggets. At 47.5 calories per nugget, that’s a grand total of 47,500 calories consumed while running really super fast.
And because those three shiny gold medals just weren’t enough, Bolt thinks he should’ve earned just one more.
“Man, I should have gotten a gold medal for all that chowing down,” he writes.
