The world has pretty much accepted that the next Doritos Locos Tacos flavor from Taco Bell will be the chili-lime deliciousness of Flamas. That’s only because most of us didn’t know that the Frito-Lay/Yum Brands universe also contains other simultaneously amazing and horrible flavors that are only available in Japan. Like bacon Doritos and Pepsi-flavored Cheetos.
The Internet pretty much falls over with joy every time that it remembers bacon Doritos are a thing. The latest sighting came from Reddit (where else?) but word on the street is that the “smoke bacon” flavor was a limited edition. If Taco Bell revived the flavor and blasted it on some tacos, American fast food and obesity rates would never quite be the same.
The Pepsi crunchies would be ideally suited to some kind of dessert, but they’re apparently similar to the cinnamon twists that you can already get at Taco Bell. According to one brave reviewer who bought a bag on eBay, they have a little too much citrus and even fizz a little.
The sweeter cola flavor is there but it’s subtler and overpowered by the intense citrus. The flavors are very distinct and don’t really ever mesh well together. But they do linger in the mouth for quite a while to leave you with a weird, marginally accurate, if lemony, Pepsi aftertaste.
The flavor isn’t quite right, but he’s still glad that they exist. Somewhere. So are we.
