TSA Can't Tell The Difference Between A Gun & An Insulin Pump
Travelers at Los Angeles International Airport this morning were held back from boarding this morning after the brain trust at the TSA security checkpoint not only managed to mistake a passenger’s insulin pump for a gun, but also waited until after she’d passed through the checkpoint to think it might be a good idea to check out the mysterious item.
According to the L.A. Times, it all happened around 7:30 a.m. this morning at LAX, where the female passenger’s insulin pump came up as a possible gun on the TSA screening device.
And yet somehow, the woman continued through the checkpoint, presumably picked up her bags and put her shoes back on and got far enough away from the TSA agents that they needed to alert airport police and have the gates cease boarding until she was located.
The passenger was eventually found and questioned — though what sort of questions one might ask regarding her insulin pump are beyond us — while some passengers waited up to an hour before they could begin boarding again.
