Everyone Is Ordering Their Pizza Online These Days
Call in for pizza? How quaint! It’s all about the Internet these days, as Domino’s Pizza reported they took a record 1.08 million online orders for pizza the week after Thanksgiving.
According to the Chicago Tribune, since Domino’s started shilling pies online four years ago, online ordering makes up around 30 percent of their total orders. The night before Thanksgiving is usually a big night for pizza, as families don’t want the fuss and muss of anything complicated for dinner before the big day of turkey.
This year rivals like Pizza Hut and Papa Johns tried to lure in consumers with special deals including sides with pizzas to compete with Domino’s jump in business. But that one million number shows Domino’s may have tapped into something successful.
“This was the first time in our history we surpassed 1 million digital orders in a single week,” said President and Chief Executive Patrick Doyle. “Consumers are not only craving quality food, but they’re getting it via the convenience of ordering from their computers and other mobile devices.”
To celebrate their 51st anniversary, Domino’s is offering 50% off any menu-priced pizza ordered online through a tab on their Facebook page this Thursday.
