Why Siri Won't Help You Find An Abortion Clinic
Siri, the helpful virtual assistant in the iPhone 4S, will help you find the nearest Thai restaurant, tell you your nearby options to get an oil change and suggest places to get a haircut. What she reportedly won’t tell you, for now, is where to find an abortion clinic.
An Apple spokesperson told The New York Times that Siri’s apparent pro-life streak is unintentional, and just the result of a glitch that could be fixed soon.
Says the spokesperson:
“Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information, and while it can find a lot, it doesn’t always find what you want. These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone. It simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better, and we will in the coming weeks.”
So take heart, those with unwanted pregnancies. Siri isn’t silently judging you after all.
