PlayStation Network Troubles Cost Sony $171 Million
Sony’s infamous PlayStation Network outage and data breach will carry a hefty price tag for the company, costing it $171 million to rebuild in the fiscal year ending March of next year.
Relaying Sony’s earnings forecast during an investors call, Joystiq reports the hit will include lost sales while the PSN was down, as well as security enhancements, legal costs and its apology packages it will offer to users. The estimate does not take into account class action suits the company faces.
