Sony Says PlayStation Network Should Be Fully Restored This Week
Sony managed to patch some key parts of its downed PlayStation Network more than two weeks ago, but some functions — such as the ability to buy and download previously purchased games — are still missing.
Kotaku reports Sony now says the PSN should be fully operational by the end of the week.
Says a Sony executive in a statement:
“We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love.”
“We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”
Presumably this means that more of Sony’s welcome back package, such as the ability to download as many as four pre-selected games — two each for the PS3 and PSP — will also be available soon.
