It’s not all that interesting that Fifth Third Bank sent Jeff and his wife a letter encouraging them to refinance their mortgage: after all, they’re Fifth Third customers, but their mortgage is with another bank. What is interesting is that they just took out the mortgage a few months ago, and they went with another bank because Fifth Third turned them down.

Jeff writes:

After Fifth Third Bank denied my wife and I a mortgage loan for our condo… we opted for a Loan with Bank of America. Months later Fifth Third sent us the attached letter asking us to re-finance with them.

It’s like shooting someone down when they ask you out, but suddenly finding them attractive when you see them holding hands with someone else. Even if that “someone else” is Bank of America.
