When you’re putting a will together, choosing the executor can be a touchy subject.

The New York Times took a look and recommends talking to a close family member or friend about whether they would be willing to take on the duties of parceling out your estate.

However, if you want to go the professional route, don’t pick a specific company in advance. Instead, select an individual who can interview contenders and negotiate fees when the need arises.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’ll avoid hurting feelings by naming all your offspring as co-executors. Either they will all fight or one person will resentfully end up doing all the work.
