Wendy's Ditches Crappy Bacon, But You Might Have To Pay More
For quite some time, fast-foodies have complained that the flimsy, translucent bacon on Wendy’s sandwiches like the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger paled in comparison to the Applewood-smoked bacon the eatery uses on the Bacon Deluxe or the Baconator. That’s all about to change as Wendy’s phases out the cheaper pork product. Unfortunately, that means you might end up paying more.
Earlier today, Wendy’s announced the end of the crappy bacon era. But a rep for the company did admit that the bacon upgrade could force the hands of some store owners to raise their prices accordingly.
The fast food chain is also adding a new, bacon-y burger to its lineup — the Double Junior Bacon Cheeseburger. With a suggested retail price of $1.89, the company feels that store owners will make enough profit to help offset any losses from the cost of the better bacon.
So keep an eye out in your neighborhood and let us know if you suddenly see the prices on your Wendy’s faves starting to increase. And definitely let us know if your Wendy’s is still using the sorta-bacon in a month or so.
