Report: Google, Disney Aren’t Going To Bid For Twitter After All Image courtesy of Tom Raftery
While the rumor mill has been working extra hard lately, churning out names of possible suitors looking to buy Twitter, a new report says a few big names are definitely not interested in putting up bids.
Recode cites those ever-mysterious sources familiar with the matter who say that Walt Disney Co. has decided not to move forward with a bid to buy Twitter, despite earlier reports that it might. Other rumors this week suggested that Disney might be mulling the idea of buying Netflix, so perhaps its piggy bank is just tied up in that possibility.
Google, also at one point seen as a possible buyer for Twitter, isn’t going to bid either, insiders tell Recode, although recent reports had suggested it might after the tech giant hired a banker, ostensibly to check out the situation over at Twitter. Might Apple buy Twitter? Probably not, sources indicated to Recode.
Salesforce could still be circling Twitter, although the company has refused to comment directly on the possibility: CEO Marc Benioff stayed mum on topic during a recent appearance on CNBC.
