Trader Joe’s Recalls All Bags Of Raw Cashew Pieces Over Salmonella Concerns
If you like to grab a handful of nuts for a quick snack now and then, you might want to check that your stash doesn’t include raw cashew pieces from Trader Joe’s, as they may come with a side of salmonella.
Trader Joe’s announced that it had voluntarily recalled all lots of “Trader Joe’s Raw Cashew Pieces” after routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration found the presence of Salmonella in the nuts.
While the company believes the contamination may have been limited to only one lot, it is having all bags removed from store shelves “out of an abundance of caution.”
The cashews were sold in Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
So far, Trader Joe’s says it is unaware of any illnesses related to the possible contamination.
Recalled products can be identified by the barcode 00505154 with a best before date of 0.17.2016TF4.
Trader Joe’s urges customers who may have the product in their cupboards to discard the product or return it to the store for a full refund.
