Help Yourself To George Harrison & Ringo Starr’s ‘Help!’ Jackets (If You Have $82,000)
Wealthy Beatles fans with a need for a warm coat take note — two of the Fab Four’s famous jackets from the film Help! and the cover for the album of the same name are soon to be sold off at an auction of rare Beatles-related items.
The specific coats included in the auction are the ones worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The auction house estimates that these will go for somewhere between $82,000 and $115,000.
“[A]s Beatles clothing goes these have got to be amongst the Holy Grail for any Beatles collector,” writes the auctioneer. “They feature on one of their most recognisable album covers and I have a feeling these could really fly off the block!”
How are buyers to know that these are indeed the outerwear sported by George and Ringo in the 1965 film? The auction house claims they come directly from the collection of Richard Lester, the movie’s director who is also responsible for another Beatles film, A Hard Day’s Night.
The auction is taking place in Liverpool, UK, in March, but the auction house will be broadcasting the event online and is accepting applications for remote bidders through Friday.
