Tractor-Trailer Overturns, Spills 40,000 Pounds Of Chicken
This was not the kind of icy, light-colored material that one expects to find strewn across the road in January. A tractor-trailer hauling frozen chicken from Texas to South Carolina overturned yesterday morning on a highway onramp near Atlanta. When the vehicle overturned, the chicken spilled out across the onramp.
The headline makes you picture unwrapped chickens strewn as far as the eye can see, but the truth was more boring than that. The meat had been packed in boxes, and it was those boxes that were strewn across the onramp.
Crews cleaned up the mess before the sun came up and reopened the road before the morning commute started, but there were still boxes on the shoulder early that morning.
There must be something on the roads in Atlanta, since it was less than a month ago that 40,000 pounds of ham tumbled out of a tractor-trailer and onto the highway in the same metropolitan area.
