In Massachusetts, one person in the drive-thru of a donut shop decided that it would be nice to pay for the order of the person behind them in line. That person paid for the next customer’s order in turn, and so did the next, and on it went for a total of 55 orders.

The woman who started the chain says that she had received the same kindness the week before at the same Heav’nly Donuts, at a time when she’s just lost her job and the family’s finances are tight.

It’s not quite the Canadian drive-thru chain-reaction of goodness that led to 228 Tim Hortons customers paying for the orders of the next person in line, but maybe it’s not bad by American standards.

“I hope it happens every single weekend because it just put everybody in a good mood,” the shop’s manager told CBS Boston. Orders ranged from $5 to $20.
