Is this the world we live in now? Fast food chains spitting out PR stunts like hands-free Whopper holders just to get our atten– oh my gosh, what? A pizza delivery drone? That’s gotta be real, right? Maybe not? In any case, darnit, we’ve fallen for it yet again with Domino’s new “DomiCopter,” capable of delivering two pizzas at a time via unmanned aircraft.

A Domino’s franchise across the pond debuted the video of the unmanned aircraft winging through the skies to drop off two pizzas, complete with the Heatwave bags.

A spokesman for Domino’s confirmed to CNN that yes, it’s a real thing, or at least it’s “the brainchild of our independent master franchise company in the U.K.”

However, and here’s the big, inevitable letdown, you’re probably not going to get a drone-delivered hot pie in the near future. It’s kind of illegal under U.S. law, as the Federal Aviation Administration rules ban unmanned aircraft from being used for commercial purposes, which pizza delivery definitely is.

Domino’s U.S. spokesman stressed that “this has nothing to do with us in the U.S. and we have no plans to pursue this idea.”

We’ll just have to stick to dreaming about food flying straight to our mouths, right when we need it, without the bother of having to talk to an actual person in the process.
