Doing The “Harlem Shake” In Mid-Air Apparently Isn’t Cool With The Folks At The FAA
If you’re the type to shun whichever viral video is currently makings its rounds, you might not know that the “Harlem Shake” phenomenon of filming yourself and friends dancing in costumes to that particular song is totally all the rage. The Federal Aviation Administration sure knows it now, as it’s launched a probe into a recent filming of the craze aboard a Frontier Airlines flight.
Apparently the suits at the FAA are displeased that the crew allowed Colorado College’s ultimate Frisbee team and their fellow passengers to film “Harlem Shake Frontier Flight 157” during a recent flight, reports the Los Angeles Times.
A Frontier spokeswoman confirmed the probe, but added that “all safety measures were followed and the seat belt sign was off.”
The Frisbee team says everyone joined in on the dancing, after they were given permission to shoot the video. And honestly, it looks like a lot of fun. There’s a banana costume involved, so how could it be anything but?
During the video the camera work gets a trifle shaky, which could be the reason behind the FAA investigation. A member of the Frisbee team just says that’s the camera guy’s fault, and that the actual flight wasn’t in the midst of turbulence.
If there’s a mile-high club for the Harlem Shake, these guys might be the first and last to join it, if the FAA puts the kibosh on future filming.
