Taco Bell Pulls Ad That Says Everyone Will Hate You For Bringing Veggies To Gameday Parties

Veggies? How dare you?!?

Veggies? How dare you?!?

Taco Bell is such a mean girl. At least according to customers who complained that the fast food chain was being way harsh on vegetables and making fun of them for being the most unpopular snack at any gameday party in a new ad. The company decided to pull the ad yesterday after people got up in arms on Twitter for the veggie smackdown.

The TV ad features Taco Bell’s variety 12-pack of tacos as the awesome choice to bring to a gameday party if you want to be cool. Because, as a voiceover says, showing up with a veggie tray to a party like that is “like punting on fourth and one. It’s a cop-out. And secretly? People kinda hate you for it.”

For those not in the football know, you should not punt on fourth and one you should GO FOR IT YAY FOOTBALL!!! If you don’t, you’re weak like vegetables and no one at the party will like you. Ever.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a health advocacy group, led the charge this weekend and encouraged others on twitter to tweet complaints. It worked, said a Taco Bell spokesman.

“We didn’t want anyone to misinterpret the intent of the ad,” he said. Which is just, you know, buy our tacos, please.
