Yes, You Can Be Charged With DWI For Driving Drunk On A Walmart Scooter
If you think you have to be driving a car, truck, SUV, motorcycle or even a Vespa to qualify for a DWI, the police in Houma, Louisiana, would disagree. On Sunday night, they arrested a man for operating a Walmart motorized scooter while having a blood alcohol content of .179.
Of course, the man was also driving the scooter down a public road. While pulling a friend of his in a wheelchair.
According to WWL radio [via HLNTV.com], The driver told police he’d gone to the local Walmart and decided to take the scooter for a “joy ride.”
Well, the joy ended when he failed a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer. He was arrested and charged with theft and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Last September, a woman in upstate New York was ticketed for operating a Walmart cart on the street. She was also charged with petit larceny because she’d been borrowing the cart for 11 days when she was caught.
It all just gives us a reason to show this classic Seinfeld moment:
