7 Months After Collapse, Metrodome Gets New Roof
Everything fell apart for the Minnesota Vikings last year, in a disastrous season that saw its star quarterback fall from grace and snow obliterate the roof of their home stadium, the Metrodome. It’s been more than half a year since the collapse, but the Metrodome finally has a new roof.
Fox Sports North reports stadium officials will have to replace the turf if it’s been too severely damaged by the elements. The Vikings, who will host preseason games on the field next month if the NFL and its players settle the lockout, aren’t the dome’s only tenants. High school and college baseball, football and soccer games are held there, as are concerts and motorsports rallies.
Even with a new roof, the Metrodome is likely not long for this world. The Vikings want to build a new, mostly publicly funded stadium and are offering to put up $400,000 of the $1 billion tab.
