The Scary Weapons Courthouse Security Guards Confiscate
People apparently don’t take courthouse security screenings as seriously as they do airport checkpoints. Brass knuckles, butcher knives, razors and hand grenades are among the contraband confiscated by Tampa-area court officials.
The St. Petersburg Times catalogs the weapons security guards have found after shaking down entrants, and says women with big purses are often the most egregious offenders. A woman in her 70s who was caught packing a blackjack said her husband told her to carry it around for protection.
Guards tell the offenders they can either take the weapons back to their cars or leave them in a box at the courthouse.
