In America we associate McDonald’s with three things, burgers, fries, and self-aggrandizing homogeneity. But the iconic chain is actually quite adaptable to local tastes, flavors and customs as it coats the globe with franchises.
The Chicago Tribune has a photogallery of several of the more notable different permutations its menu and business practices go through as it flexes to suit the palates of each of its colonies. My favorite has to be the McRice burger sold in Singapore. It’s just like a regular burger or fish fillet, except instead of buns, it has rice cakes.
