If This Snickers Lady Scares The Crap Out Of You, You Are Not Alone

Look, there’s nothing really to report here other than lots of people are scared of this commercial, and I’m one of them. That’s clearly what they were going for, so bravo to you, Snickers.

There’s something sort of Return To Oz about it.

They could have had the kids head anywhere but his crotch area. That’s just gross.

Scary. Reminds me of Jocelyn Wildenstein, the millionaire woman who has had waaaaaay too much plastic surgery, and now is known as “the cat lady”.

    Looks just like her.

Gah. This is why we don’t have the awesome commercials like they do in europe. We’re all wimps!

  6. MercuryPDX says:

    The “face touch” is creeeeeeeeeepy.

  7. Hanshiro says:

    Apparently a Jocelyn Wildenstein mask.

  8. mllejanvier says:

I thought this was hilarious! She’s only trying to help.

  9. MustardTiger says:

Weird small hand? It’s a tiny child hand! Maybe? Either way, as far as commercials go this one is pretty decent and makes me want Snickers. Mmm creepy Snickers..

  10. cash_da_pibble says:

I like it because it’s so creepy.

There’s that Kit Kat commercial out now with the syrupy-sweet trick-or-treaters in Peter Pan costumes and Bunny suits… have you EVER seen a kid dress up as a bunny?!

Halloween is supposed to be scary!

  11. banmojo says:

Don’t have speakers here at my office. Watching it without sound is NOT creepifying. So disappointed now, shoulda waited till at home. *sigh*

like my ‘Moon Is Harsh Mistress’ dialect?? :^)

  12. Sunflower1970 says:

The Burger King is creepy, as were Quizno’s Sponge Monkeys.

This may take the cake, though…

    • HogwartsProfessor says:

I LOVED the spongmonkeys. I hate the Burger King, however. That’s just weird.

I haven’t seen this Snickers thing but I’m watching it the second I get home.

  13. HogwartsProfessor says:

Okay, looking at the picture (can’t watch the video here), the face looks like a Kabuki mask.

  14. CrissyT says:

I love this commercial! I busted out laughing the first time I saw it.

  15. Stiv says:

Oh man, this is my most favorite commercial on the TV right now. It’s absolutely terrifying, but in a most satisfying way….

  16. dantsea says:

It’s a shame when they make bad commercials like that, and people talk about them and post them on blogs. Yup. They shouldn’t do that.

[You. Yes, you. This is where you respond with sanctimony about how you will Never Buy Snickers Again because this commercial, for Snickers, the candy bar, touched you in a bad place. Snickers.]

  17. SlayerGhede says:

I thought it was fucking hilarious, then again, I think creepy is funny, to a point.

  18. RanChan03 says:

    lol i’m *snickering* right now

  19. kataisa says:

I think this ad was designed to simply remind everyone that Halloween is coming soon (hence the frightening Cat Lady costume) and Snickers snack size candy bars are available to hand out to all those kids who will be trick-or-treating.

  20. 6T9 says:

I’m Diabetic. I’m going to go buy Snickers…………….nom nom nom………..Coma

  21. The Marionette says:

“Look, there’s nothing really to report here”

Bout time you guys summed up your way of reporting.

  22. qwill says:

Now if this women and the Burger King dude got together…

  23. dg says:

This commercial isn’t scary – it’s completely fucked up. Yeah, it’s halloween related, but still, it’s just too much. And you know what? It’s not going to induce me to buy a damn thing… In fact, if Snickers does that to kids, I’m going to stay far far away from those things…

  24. gman863 says:

Unlike the star of Snickers’ last ad campaign, I doubt people will mount an effort on Facebook to get this chick a gig hosting Saturday Night Live.

Come to think of it, the creepy lady’s face looks a bit like Bea Aurther. Maybe Snickers was hoping lightening would strike twice with a “Golden Girls” look-alike.

  25. Kahn Soomer says:

    Is that Julia Child?

  26. blinky says:

Jeeze, a Wildenstein mask. Snickers is sure to get sued.

  27. Rectilinear Propagation says:

Huh. I didn’t find that creepy at all. Weird, but not scary or creepy.

  28. FoxCMK says:

  29. KingPsyz says:

Man up nancy’s… It’s a halloween comercial about as threatening as an episode of Little Rascals… What has happened to this world?

  30. richcreamerybutter says:

I’m going to find the agency responsible and thank both them and Snickers for this day brightener. With all the horrible, lazy campaigns, those responsible for taking a risk like this deserve to be commended.

I believe that if advertisements don’t bring joy into my life, they are useless.

  31. Warren - aka The Piddler on the Roof says:

This is hysterical. And creepy. But mostly hysterical.

Smart little buggers. I’d give them a handful of Snickers. ;-D

  32. BoredOOMM says:

Look at the online coupon blogs and there is a ton of free candy available to prevent use of Snickers..

  33. mk says:

I LOVE this commercial. The face touch part is totally funny. What is wrong with you people!

  34. Vogue007 says:

Looks like your typical small town drag queen to me.

  35. Nick says:

Jocelyn Wildenstein looking hotter than ever.
