Getting pulled over in South Carolina has its benefits. If a highway patrolman pulls you over and finds you wearing your seatbelt, he can reward you with a Chick-Fil-A coupon, the Greenville News reports:

“If you have a DUI, the chances are you’re not going to get one,” (Lance Cpl. Bob Beres, a spokesman for the Highway Patrol) said. …

State troopers have handed out more than 1,200 coupons in partnership with Chick-fil-A since the program began Nov. 24, Beres said. The coupons are handed out during traffic violation stops, at holiday roadblock checks and at other opportunities, he said.

Beres said it’s up to the discretion of the officer whether to give sandwich coupons when they stop drivers for more serious offenses such as driving under the influence.

There seems to be something not quite right about law enforcement officers acting as advertisers for fast food joints, but whatever. Chick-fil-A is good and I’d take one of its coupons from the devil himself.
