NYC Couple Says Airbnb Renter Stole $5K Worth Of Stuff From Their Apartment
There are the kinds of bad houseguests who maybe leave their wet towel on the ground or put an empty milk container back in the refrigerator, and then there are the folks who leave your home a bit emptier than they found it. A New York City couple found themselves facing the latter situation, claiming that an Airbnb renter boosted a bunch of their belongings.
The couple rented their Manhattan apartment out for a few weeks in July to a guest via Airbnb, reports DNAInfo, and came back at the end of the month to discover the alleged theft.
They say the man took a Louis Vuitton purse, an Xbox, a Chi hair straightener, an iPad, and a bunch of clothing, for a total value of $5,059.
Airnb says the hosts immediately contacted the company as well as police, and its working with the victims under its $1 million insurance guarantee.
“Negative experiences are extremely rare as more than 100 million guest arrivals have had safe and positive experiences on Airbnb,” an Airbnb spokesman told DNAInfo. “We have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and have removed this guest from our platform.”
