Kmart Coupon Excludes Almost Everything Kmart Sells

kmart-10off20-detailsCoupon exclusions are a delicate balance. When you exclude too few things, customers take advantage of the loopholes, like when Best Buy e-mailed a $50 off $100 purchase gift card and forgot to exclude gift cards. If you exclude too many things, customers will probably not bother to use the coupon at all, since they can’t tell what they can use it for.

$10 off a $20 purchase is a very good coupon, and it isn’t even limited to only certain markets like the infamous Kmart Renaissance coupon disaster of 2010. Mouse Print did the blessed work of sharing the full text of the exclusions. They confuse us.

Most of these exclusions make sense: prescriptions, prior purchases, and gift cards are standard exclusions for coupons. Some of these items are baffling, though: why 2.5 oz mini jar candles specifically? Why do they exclude fans?

eh, i dunno what your experience has been with bed bath and beyond (as per your link) . i exchanged a duplicate christmas gift at bed bath and beyond today. it was bought online with a 20% any 1 item off coupon. i had a printed a new 20% off any 1 item coupon to use on the new merchandise i was exchanging. they applied the previous coupon (the one used during the initial purchase by my sister!) to one of the items i was purchasing in store, and the new coupon to the item that wasn’t available in store that they ordered for me online, with free shipping. they are extremely good about coupons in my experience.

I used to work there. We’d take those coupons on whatever you wanted, regardless of what exclusions they had. For the record though, most of those exclusions were because of brand-specific merchant agreements that we weren’t allowed to discount, like Calphalon cookware or Henckels knives.
