Walmart Slashes Prices On iPhone 6 To $129, 6 Plus To $229
The retailer has also dropped its price on the older iPhone 5S to $49 under the same conditions.
Sam’s Club members can shave an additional $2 off of each of these prices, which are all for the 16GB versions of the various iPhones.
Why is Walmart doing this? In addition to getting a commission for signing customers up to these contracts, the retailer is obviously hoping to increase foot traffic during the final few weeks of the all-important holiday shopping season.
Get people in with the iPhone deal, then get them to spend the money they’ve saved (and hopefully more) on gifts, food, books, magazines, sweatpants, health insurance, auto repair, or whatever else they need to pick up before going home.
It’s basically a second doorbuster offer for Walmart, hoping to stoke the shopping fires after a generally mediocre Black Friday weekend.
