Reminder: Do Not Attack The Mail Carrier If The Check You’re Expecting Hasn’t Arrived Yet
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Just because the mail carrier is the one who brings you your mail, he or she is not the one sending it. So if you haven’t gotten a check you’ve been expecting, attacking the mailman isn’t going to bring it to you any faster. It just isn’t.
An Akron man has been accused of taking his frustrations over an expected and yet inexplicably absent check out on his mail carrier, reports the Akron Beacon Journal.
The postal worker told police that the man had gotten angry when he told him he didn’t have the check he wanted. So naturally, that led to pepper spray in the mail worker’s eyes and a full-on wrestling match in the street, where the suspect allegedly bit the mailman in the legs multiple times.
Police arrested him on charges that he assaulted the mail carrier and then fought with officers who responded to the scene. The suspect’s former weapon of choice was turned against him when police officers finally used pepper spray to subdue him and take him into custody.
No word on whether that check has arrived since the incident but we’re willing to bet his mailman requested a change in his route. Let’s hope his new rounds take him to all the dogless houses where no one is ever expecting any checks to the point of leg-biting madness, just in case.
