Apple Moves Some Mac Manufacturing To Job-Hungry Nation Of United States

Looking for a new place to assemble their signature iMac desktops, Apple has turned to a country where desperate masses of unemployed workers rush to compete for just about any job: the United States. CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the “assembled in USA” tags on some iMacs are real, and more manufacturing will shift stateside in 2013.

A few parts of the famed iPhone actually come from the United States, and are exported to the final assembly point in China. The processor comes from Texas, and Gorilla Glass is manufactured in Kentucky. What CEO Tim Cook confirmed this week in a long interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek is that the company will shift more manufacturing to the United States, and plans to invest $100 million in that shift.
