Starbucks & Disney Form Overly Cheerful, Caffeinated Alliance
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum — and also a grande nonfat caramel macchiato with extra whip, please. A new joint venture between Starbucks and Disney means visitors to the theme parks will be able to get their caffeine fix in cafes designed to blend in with their surroundings.
For example, says the Associated Press, at Disneyland in California, the cafe will bear the name Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe instead of Starbucks, after the Three Little Pigs. That’s at the first location — Disneyland California Adventure in Anaheim.
The Starbucks logo won’t even be outside, beyond the name being printed vertically on posts beside the entryway. The first cafe will be close to the park entrance and is supposed to evoke the Los Angeles neighborhood Walt Disney lived in during the 1920s and 1930s.
Employees will be wearing Disney-type aprons that match the decor instead of Starbucks’ usual green outfits.
Other cafes will open eventually at Disneyland Park and at the parks in Orlando, Fla. — Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
We’re not sure if the magic teacup ride will be better or worse all hopped up on caffeine. Only one way to find out, right?
