Reddit's Alexis Ohanion: Piracy Can Be A Great Opportunity
Reddit is set to black out for 12 hours starting at 8 a.m. ET this morning. But in advance of that temporary shutdown, the site’s co-founder Alexis Ohanion has been making the media rounds to speak out against the Stop Online Piracy Act.
“I just have to believe that the private sector can do a better job,” Ohanion told CNBC in an interview from yesterday. “As an entrepreneur, as an investor, I see piracy as a great opportunity for some savvy entrepreneurs to offer a better service and make a lot of money in the process.”
Ohanion also questioned the lawmakers behind this legislation, saying, “I can’t understand why Congress can’t seem to agree on anything that really matters… but when Hollywood pays lobbyists $94 million to get a bill passed, both Republicans and Democrats line up to co-sponsor it.”
