Some poor eaters justify their junk food diets with the claim that it’s cheaper to eat bad. That’s not necessarily the case. There are loads of overlooked foods out there that cost little.
The Family Kitchen identifies several healthy foods you can buy for less than $1. According to the post, you can find tofu, sardines, spinach, almonds, canned tomatoes, lentils, wild rice, beets, canned tuna and hummus in serving sizes that cost less than $1. While not all the foods are tasty, at least they’re relatively good for you.
