Rachael Ray's Magazine Assumes You're Okay With Fewer Issues
Guess what, subscribers of Every Day With Rachael Ray? You’re getting fewer issues this year because of 40 pages being added to a “special” Thanksgiving issue. You won’t find out until that magazine arrives, however, as one Consumerist reader wrote in to tell us.
Mia sent in a copy of the letter she received with her “Biggest-Ever Thanksgiving Blowout!” issue.
The letter starts out by extolling the additional 40 pages chock-full with Thanksgiving goodness, before slipping in a little, “Oh yeah, by the way? You get less this year because of this.”
This edition is so big, in fact, that we are treating it as a special issue that will count toward two of your subscriber issues, so the duration of your subscription will be adjusted accordingly. We hope you will agree that it is well worth it.
A toll-free number is provided in case anyone is unhappy, perhaps a sign that they know what they’re doing is going to meet with disgruntled customers.
As Mia puts it:
Yes, it is a tiny bit bigger than the usual, (6 cm instead of 5 cm), but really, is this worth a ‘special issue’? If so, the September Vogue is worth 6 months of magazines (please don’t give them any ideas). Anyway, yes, I’ll be calling.
While a double issue here and there is expected with many magazines, there is usually a guaranteed number of issues per year, so this feels like a bit of a sneak move for subscribers expecting those issues.
