American Airlines To Offer PJs, Slippers, Turn-Down Service In First Class
While the line between riding in coach and stowing away in the luggage blurs, the chasm between coach and first class grows deeper and wider. The latest perk intended to lure people into those first few rows: American Airlines will soon be offering hotel-style luxuries like pajamas and slippers to first- and business-class passengers on some international flights.
Starting Sept. 1, first and business class travelers from the U.S. to London Heathrow will get a quilted bed topper, pajamas and slippers, lightweight day blanket, duvet, pillow, and an amenity kit with Dermalogica skincare products and other stuff.
American says it’s the first U.S. airline to offer such amenities, which hearken back to the day of luxury carriers like Pan Am and the high-end airlines favored by international business travelers.
Says a rep for the airline, “This initiative to further complement our premium customers’ travel experience is another example of our commitment to make American the airline of choice for global travelers.”
