Bank Of America Customer Gathers 10,000 Signatures In Attempt To Save Home & Business

After 18 months of trying to get a loan modification from Bank of America, the owner of a Seattle-area property that includes both her nursery business and her home, decided to get a little help from 10,000 of her friends, hoping that a hefty petition would help convince BofA to modify the mortgage.

“We can’t stand up to a big bank like this if we don’t unite in numbers,” the woman, who delivered the petition to BofA last week, tells Seattle’s King5. “These signatures represent thousands of people…. It’s been a long hard battle. I went through a divorce, I lost my mom and I’m not about to lose my house and my job.”

After delivering the petition, the homeowner said she was treated like “an annoyance, like another person just turning in another form.” But King5 says that BofA has subsequently put the brakes on foreclosure proceedings, that they are reviewing her case and will decide whether or not to offer a modification within the next few weeks.
