What with reports indicating a plethora of security breaches at U.S. airports, why not check out some of those statistics in action? Two such breaches may have occurred recently, as an Indianapolis woman claims she made it through security twice with a knife in her carry-on.
This wasn’t just a plastic butter knife, reports WTVR.com, but a three-inch blade. Sara Gallienne says she went past TSA in Richmond, Va. and Providence, R.I. just fine on her way home to Indianapolis. When she arrived home she was shocked to realize she had the knife in her carry-on.
“I was going through it, pulled out my headphones and I realized, ‘Oh crud. I have a knife in here,'” Gallienne said.
Woopsies! She then went on to file a complaint with the TSA, admitting her knife-toting.
They released a statement, saying:
“We continue to take the discovery of knives and other prohibited items seriously, however, it today’s post-9/11 security environment, intelligence tells us our officers’ greatest focus needs to be on the biggest threat to aviation security today-explosives and explosive components.”
