Looking For Free Condoms? There's An App For That
Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” like free condoms. That must be why the New York City Health Department picked today to unveil its new condom-locator app for iPhones and Android devices.
“We are trying to reach everyone having sex,” said a department rep about the app, which allows users to input their address and find the five nearest spots to pick up a free condom. “The younger generation uses their iPhone and we want to make it convenient for them to access condoms.”
From NY Daily News:
They’re available at many community centers, health clinics, neighborhood stores – even tattoo parlors and barber shops. With the aid of GPS, the app will give walking, driving and subway directions.
Additionally, folks without smartphones can just go to the Health Dept.’s website for a complete list.
The Health Dept. says the city handed out over 36 million love gloves in 2009 but “as long as there are people getting STDs, unwanted pregnancies and HIV there aren’t enough” people using them.
