I wrote four senators today about the TSA bullshit!

Also, my crappy military town is finally getting an Olive Garden. This means that Texas Roadhouse won’t be the only “good” place to go for date night.

I miss the food options in the suburbs of Atlanta.

  2. haggis for the soul says:

    Aww, what a cute pup.

  3. CrankyOwl says:

OMG. Puppy. In a sweater. With big earsies. That’s just a ridiculous amount of cute!

  4. smarmyjones goes cattywampus says:

    Dear Comsumerist,

I think it would be awesome if you went back to some of the briefer stories posted this year and gave us updates on them. There were a few that never offered any type of conclusion that kept readers like me hanging on and wondering what ever happened.

This one comes to mind first:

Could you pretty please with cherries maybe consider doing this in the future?

  5. HogwartsProfessor says:

    I just died of cuteness.

  6. pop top says:

A week and a half until Atlanta! I’m excited since I haven’t been in years. We’re definitely going to the zoo, the aquarium and the Cyclorama. I mean, anything that’s been featured on Squidbillies has to be awesome as hell, right?

    • oneandone says:

The aquarium is awesome. I try to go to one everytime I visit a city that has one, and it really impressed me.

Atlanta’s offers reduced rates (I think half off) if you go in the last hour and a half they are open. It would have been nice to spend a little more time there, but there actually weren’t that many people in, so overall I thought it was definitely worth it (especially for half off). Consider it if your budget needs a little help.

I HATED the Coke museum. Terrible, shallow, annoying place. Two thumbs-down. It wasn’t on the sites you mentioned, but don’t get tempted. Ridiculous waste of time & money.

      • pop top says:

There’s a thing the city’s website links to called “City Pass” where you pay like $70 and you can get into like, 8 or 9 different places with it. It includes the zoo, aquarium, CNN, Coke World, botanical gardens and a few others I can’t remember. After reading the reviews, I think we’re going to avoid CNNa dn Coke World but do everything else. Plus there’s Little Five Points to see as well. :D

        • catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

go to the vortex and eat the fried cheesecake – little five points. [ps, the parking there sucks]
it’s the only place i stopped the last time i was in atlanta, lunch with a friend. i don’t remember what food i ate but the fried cheesecake is stuck in my head

          • pop top says:

I’ve heard we should hit Vortex; the outside looks cool enough, I hope the food is good. Thanks for the tip. :)

      • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

        BUT THEY HAVE SURGE!!!!!!!!!!!11

        • pop top says:

REALLY?! I love Surge. You have no idea. That might actually make me go… Although I think Vault is just Surge repackaged.

    • JulesNoctambule says:

Ah, Atlanta. I will never miss that place because of the traffic. If you want to get out of the tourism area, I recommend the Buford Highway Asian market; it’s huge, fascinating and a great place to find excellent restaurants featuring foods from all different sorts of countries.

    • outshined says:

      Watch out for the zombies…

  7. Oranges w/ Cheese says:

Today is my boyfriend’s 25 birthday! And we’re going to go out and have fun tonight :) he’s happy with his gift – I got him a video card :)

Next week I get to see my parents, my aunt & uncle and their daughter for Universal!

  8. pecan 3.14159265 says:

Anyone have plans for the weekend? I am not doing a whole lot, since it’s freezing outside. I do need to get ready for Thanksgiving though!

    • cash_da_pibble says:

Tonight is bumming out, playing our new Borderlands download- yaay!
Tomorrow is a Surprise “Cowboys and Indians” birthday party for a 50-year old man- yaay!
And Sunday is a baby shower for one of my Boyfriend’s friends… yeah.

Due to my anxiety toward children, I’m not too keen on the baby shower…
I do hope there’s cocktails of some sort.

    • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

Thankfully, this weekend is mostly winding down. I have to get our house ready for my absence so that everything will be easy to find / clean / cook for my boyfriend while I’m in Orlando over Thanksgiving. Other than that, just not looking forward to the disaster area I’ll come home to.

    • catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

taking a foster cat to his new adoptive home, a friend’s birthday party, and then hopefully a solid day of reading books and playing video games.

      • pecan 3.14159265 says:

        That is one BUSY kitteh!

I kids, I kids…just…read your sentence again. You structured it to make it read that you were going to take the cat to the new home, then to a birthday party, and then the cat will have a day of reading and video games. :)

        • catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

well the birthday party is a] at my sister’s house where there are half a dozen permanent cats and a rotation of foster kitties and b] for the head of the rescue.
so if the adoption falls through, he’s welcome at the party too.

    • theblackdog says:

My BF mentioned that one of his friends is doing a “Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” drinking party, so I think we will be partaking of that.

Otherwise, just Ravens vs Panthers on Sunday. GO RAVENS!

    • HogwartsProfessor says:

I GOTTA get some work done; I’ve been getting more writing done at lunchtime. I think I’m finally picking up steam on this latest WIP. YAY!

I finally made it past Level 4 on Katamari Damacy, so Level 5 here I come. And have to take a peek at the Spyro game I bought also. BF wants me to play Silent Hill 2 by myself but that ain’t happening. If Pyramid Head tries to kill me I want him to at least be in the next room!

  9. hotcocoa says:

The dog is cute, but looks so over it. Hah poor thing.

  11. pjkobulnicky says:

TSA: Vote with your feet/wheels. 500 miles or less … drive and tell the airlines that you’ll be driving instead of taking that TSA crap. They make LOTS on money on short haul flights. You save a ton, especially with two or more travelers. And, when you are driving take along all of the carry-on stuff you want and can’t trust TSA with.

    • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

Or, fly regionally! I’ve never had an issue with our local regional airports. In fact, I’m flying into Orlando Sanford airport for Thanksgiving! :)

      • catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

ah, i know that area well. grew up just south of sanford. i’d say have fun, but…. i know that area well

        • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

LOL. I just moved away – lived in Winter Springs the past 2 years, and East Orlando the 4 years before that. I’m in Michigan now.

          • catastrophegirl chooses not to fly says:

i remember, we’ve discussed it on twitter before. grew up in longwood myself. also known as the skinny strip of land with all the sinkholes that’s just to the left of winter springs on the map.

enjoy the delightful florida weather… should be, what, sweatshirts and “socks with your flip flops” season right about now?

            • Kimaroo - 100% Pure Natural Kitteh says:

Oh God.. socks with flipflops season. *sigh* We have that too. And Uggs with booty shorts season, as well.

    • CrankyOwl says:

Um…yeah…driving to Europe or Australia takes too long.

  12. Kimaroo - 100% Pure Natural Kitteh says:

I’m so tired and dragged down this week. Blahhhhh.

I can’t even “woo” properly for the Open Thread.

    The puppy is cute though.

I wanted to have my hand controls installed on my car this week, you know, before Thanksgiving, so that I could show all my family what I’ve been agonizing over, but it was not meant to be : (

I want a haircut this weekend and the only day I could have gone was Sunday, and my stylist is off Sunday.

I’m fighting with my doctor’s office and billing department about a bill they say that I owe, but I have a receipt that says PAID IN FULL.. Ugh.

I want Thanksgiving now, and pie.

    • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

I’ve always been curious, how do those hand controls work?

      • Kimaroo - 100% Pure Natural Kitteh says:

I’m going to be posting a youtube video when I get them, because I have been searching and there is NO INFORMATION on the internet anywhere that I’ve seen that shows how they work.

What it is, at a very basic level, is a metal pole, and there are joints that attach to the break and the gas pedal, and you rock the handle (up by the steeringwheel) back for gas, and you push it forward for break. There is no electronics involved, it’s just hardware.

        • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

Oh cool, so its like a plane stick (sort of). Cool! It’s great that you’ll be able to drive :)

    • HogwartsProfessor says:

Aww, poor Kimaroo. Don’t wait; have pie now. Or cake. :)

  14. theblackdog says:

You know what will make this post better?

    A Corgi in a sweater!

  15. momtimestwo says:

Deathwing killed me twice today, but I didn’t roll for any loot because all I did was watch the others kill him. That’s just how I roll… :)

  16. Oranges w/ Cheese says:

Oh no! I just went to the vending machine to get a packet of pretzel M&M’s and it was open :(
75 cents wasted on something I can’t even eat. /cry

  17. SPOON - now with Forkin attitude says:

why can’t I get indian fast food?

    • pop top says:

Because something that tastes so delicious cannot be rushed my friend.

    • Oranges w/ Cheese says:

15 minutes is fast enough for me – just call ahead and pick up!

      • pecan 3.14159265 says:

Screw that – I need it delivered or I have to be within walking distance. Unfortunately, there aren’t any Indian places that are walking distance or that deliver (even though I’m only 1.5 miles away). Not that it would matter since even if there was one, it’s so cold outside that by the time I got the food home, it wouldn’t be hot anymore.

  18. SonarTech52 says:

The circus is on town! Going to check that out with the fam, and the Steelers game this weekend.

  19. LightningUsagi says:

I had to laugh at the picture…I was just sharing the story of my Frenchie’s meal of a tube of super glue last night when I logged on and saw the picture. No matter how stupid my dog may be, you can’t deny the amount of cuteness in those ears and snoodle.
