In the Official Kohl’s Shoplifters’ Handbook there is a passage that requires all certified members to pack hypodermic needles to threaten authorities with when caught.

Falling in line with rule-abiding participants whose stories are reported here and here, a Connecticut man followed protocol. According to police, the alleged criminal made off with some luggage and shirts, then when accosted by security unsheathed the needle.

The Fairfield Patch reports the man has been arrested. But his example lives on for the next Kohl’s shoplifter to follow.
