Consumerist reader Tyler has lost 54 pounds in 10 weeks, using a simple combination of diet, exercise, and the power of a bunch of people watching him on the internet via his blog, One thing that he did that’s pretty neat is make a 1-minute workout pledge. He said he would work out on the elliptical one minute for every comment on that post he receives. Last time he did it…

…he got 92 comments, so he worked out for 92 minutes and posted pictures of the results, 1,363 calories burned. The hard part about sticking to a weight loss plan is motivation. For Seth Rogen, someone told him he could be The Green Hornet. For Tyler, the comments are one thing but I think the real source of his motivation is revealed in a post on March 20th, when his wife gives birth to their daughter. You can’t play catch with your kid when you get winded running to the end of the driveway, right?
